AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn soccer returns home to welcome No. 13 Tennessee on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT for its annual Kick Out Cancer match at the Auburn Soccer Complex.
“They are a very well-balanced team,” head coach James Armstrong said. “Tennessee is very capable on both sides, very organized and very well coached. It’s going to be a great matchup. We will need the Auburn family to be out here loud and show Tennessee what we got as well as the rest of the country who will be watching on TV.”
Auburn (6-2-3) fell to Arkansas 1-0 on Sunday after an early goal by Lauren Van Rhein in the 20th minute. Despite the loss, Auburn has allowed only three goals this season, marking the fewest goals allowed through 11 matches in program history.
Tennessee (6-1-3, 1-1-2) suffered its first defeat of the season on Sunday afternoon, falling 3-1 to No. 3 Vanderbilt at Regal Soccer Stadium. After a scoreless first half, multiple bursts of offensive quality in the second half saw the Commodores outmuscle the Lady Vols to a victory in the in-state rivalry match up.
Auburn and Tennessee last met in 2024. Behind a brace from sophomore Olivia Woodson and an 80th-minute game-winner from senior Sydnie Thibodaux, the Tigers picked up their first win in Knoxville since 2015, knocking off the Lady Vols 3-2 in a back-and-forth clash at Regal Soccer Stadium.
The series between the two programs is nearly deadlocked, with Tennessee holding a slight edge at 13-12-4. The Tigers are in search of their third straight win in the series, which would match the longest winning streak in program history against the Lady Vols.
In recognition of Auburn’s Kick Out Cancer match, pink Auburn trucker hats will be available to fans while supplies last. Additionally, jelly stress cubes will be available exclusively in the Chaos Corner, also while supplies last. Auburn Panhellenic students will also have the opportunity to enter a raffle to win four tickets to see Zach Bryan.
Thursday’s match marks Auburn’s first nationally televised match of the season, with action set to air on the SEC Network.
