MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Auburn University women’s golf team opened the 2026-27 season with a 4th place finish at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate at Royal Golf Club in Minneapolis.
In a field that included seven teams ranked inside the top 25, the Tigers were one of four teams to shoot under par for the tournament, finishing at -1 overall. The Tigers were only behind No. 6 Wake Forest (-24), No. 2 USC (-14) and No. 12 Oregon (-11).
Junior Balma Davalos Guaita led the charge by finishing in a tie for 8th place at -1. Davalos Guaita opened the tournament with a two-over 74 but finished strong with consecutive rounds under par (70-71) to finish one under.
Senior Anna Davis was Auburn’s second finisher at even par and improved one stroke each day (73-72-71 = 216, E) to finish in a tie for 11th place.
“That was good golf on a good golf course,” head coach Melissa Luellen said. “We fought until the end, and Balma capped off a strong day with a bridie on the final hole to earn a top-10 finish. Anna had a tough front nine today but showed tremendous resilience. She had six one-putt greens on the back nine and played it 5-under, which should give her confidence heading into the Epson Tour event in Prattville this weekend.”
Molly Brown Davidson was Auburn’s third top 20 finisher by tying for 15th overall at +1. Davidson shot 75-70-72 in the three-day event.
Anne Fernandez, who had the Tigers’ lowest score on the first 18 holes (71, -1) finished the tournament tied for 27th. Fernandez shot 75 (+3) in the second round and 73 (+1) in the final round to finish +3 overall.
Charlotte Cantonis rounded out Auburn’s efforts in a tie for 29th as all five Tigers finished inside the top half of the 60-player field. Cantonis was +4 overall (76-73-71 = 220).
“Molly, Anne and Charlotte all played solid gold, and it was a good team effort throughout the entire tournament. Moving forward, we need to sharpen our wedge play and see a few more putts fall if we want to post the low numbers we know we’re capable of.”
The Tigers continue their fall schedule at the Canadian Invitational Collegiate on Sept. 21-22 in Aurora, Ontario.
