Roger McCreary forced six pass breakups and Nehemiah Pritchett snagged his second interception of the season while other former Tigers recorded season highs across the league.
That and more in this week’s Auburn Made NFL Rundown.
Roger McCreary, CB, Detroit Lions
McCreary recorded a career-high and franchise-record six passes defended in the Lions’ blowout win against the Cardinals, tying him for the third-most in a single game in NFL history. The six pass breakups are the most by an NFL player this season and the most ever registered by an Auburn Tiger in the league. The former second-round pick also tallied six tackles, including five solo stops, and posted a 72.2 pass-rush grade, which ranks 10th among 102 NFL cornerbacks. The sixth-year pro owns an overall run defense grade of 76.0, which is 21st in his position group. McCreary ranks 12th among former Auburn Tigers in the NFL with 24 career passes defended.
Nehemiah Pritchett, CB, Seattle Seahawks
Pritchett hauled in his second interception of the season and helped force a muffed punt in the Seahawks’ matchup against the 49ers. One of 14 players with multiple interceptions this season, Pritchett jumped a shallow out route midway through the third quarter and returned it 20 yards into San Francisco territory to set up a Seattle touchdown. The third-year pro also helped force a muffed punt early in the first quarter that led to Seattle’s first touchdown of the game. Pritchett earned a 96.9 PFF grade, the highest among 105 NFL cornerbacks this week, and ranks third in overall defensive (87.0), fourth in coverage (85.4) and eighth in pass rush (75.1), all career bests.
Jamien Sherwood, LB, New York Jets
Sherwood helped the Jets defense secure a 17-12 victory over the Browns, recording four total tackles, including three solo stops, to go along with a pass breakup and quarterback hurry. Coming off his standout performance the previous week, Sherwood continued to anchor New York's defense in a game dominated by defense and special teams. The 2024 Jets MVP has led the team in tackles in each of the last two seasons and ranks second in the NFL in total tackles over that span. The former fifth-round pick is approaching the top 10 among Auburn alumni in career NFL tackles, totaling 424 in 78 games played. Sherwood also posted an 83.5 PFF grade, ranking ninth among 93 eligible linebackers.
Jaylin Simpson, CB, Miami Dolphins
Simpson delivered season highs in tackles and recorded a pass defended in the Dolphins' game against the Bengals. The former fifth-round pick turned in the fourth-best PFF grade (89.9) out of 105 cornerbacks this week. In just his second game with the Dolphins, Simpson recorded his first career pass breakup en route to posting an 86.2 coverage grade on the day, which ranked sixth at his position. The second-year pro appeared in one game with the Packers last season and looks to add depth to the Dolphins’ secondary.
Colby Wooden, DT, New Orleans Saints
Wooden recorded the first forced fumble of his career while turning in a season-high five tackles in the Saints' game against the Vikings. The former fourth-round pick’s first career forced fumble came with 9:17 to go in the fourth quarter, ultimately being recovered by Minnesota and resulting in a loss of eight yards. Wooden also registered his first TFL since week 12 of the 2025 season with the Packers to go along with a quarterback hit. Logging a season-high 48 snaps, Wooden posted a 69.8 tackling grade to contribute to his nine solo stops so far this season, ranking 19th among 132 NFL interior defenders.
