AUSTIN, Texas – Auburn soccer closed the regular season with a 0-0 draw against Texas on Sunday at Mike A. Myers Stadium.

“Another strong defensive performance to close out the regular season schedule,” head coach James Armstrong said. “I’m really proud of the overall team effort, commitment and work rate.

“As we head into the postseason we there is another level for us to reach. We have to find more quality in the final third, be more clinical in front of goal and make the most of the opportunities we create.”

With five goals allowed through 17 matches, Auburn broke its program record for fewest goals conceded in a regular season. The previous mark was 13 goals, set by the 2022 team.

Auburn's defense finished the regular season with the fewest goals allowed in the country. The Tigers also went the entire regular season without allowing a second-half goal.

Additionally, Auburn matched a program record with its 12th shutout of the season. The clean sheet also marked Auburn's sixth shutout in SEC play, the most in program history.

The Tigers (8-2-7, 4-2-4 SEC) and Longhorns (8-4-5, 3-3-4 SEC) played to a scoreless first half before combining for 12 shots in the second half. Neither team was able to find the back of the net.

Auburn finished with eight shots, putting three on target, while Texas recorded nine shots and one on goal. Goalkeeper Ayana Yapo made one save to help the Tigers earn the shutout.

The Tigers created several opportunities throughout the match. Kennedy Husbands put Auburn's first shot on target in the 37th minute, but Texas goalkeeper Bayliss Flynn made the save. Gracie Brown also tested Flynn just before halftime, with the Longhorns goalkeeper turning away the attempt.

After the break, Grace Ivey forced another save in the 67th minute. Auburn continued to pressure late, but second-half attempts by Kylie Snell, Layla Sirdah and Ellie Rebmann were blocked.

Texas' best opportunity came in the 70th minute when Alicia Riggins put a shot on target, but Yapo made the stop to preserve the shutout.

Auburn turns its attention to postseason play at the SEC Tournament as the No. 6 seed, taking on No. 11 seed LSU on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 2 p.m. CT.
