Auburn Made: Week 8 NFL RundownAuburn Made: Week 8 NFL Rundown

Jamien Sherwood and Carlton Davis III registered season highs in tackles, while Roger McCreary and Jamel Dean played a part in divisional wins for their teams.

That and more in this week’s Auburn Made NFL rundown.

Carlton Davis III, CB, New England Patriots
Davis III made a huge impact for the Patriots in a 24-19 divisional win over the Dolphins as the former second-round pick recorded a season-high nine total tackles, with seven being solo stops. The nine total tackles were the most in a game for Davis III since Week one of the 2024 season, when he recorded 10 total tackles. The eighth-year pro currently has an overall PFF grade of 76.5 and coverage grade of 75.9, which are both career-best numbers and good for top-12 marks among NFL cornerbacks.

Jamel Dean, CB, Pittsburgh Steelers
Dean helped the Steelers secure a 27-6 divisional win over the Browns as the first-year Steeler made five total tackles, including three solo stops. After signing a three-year deal this offseason, Dean has played a major role in a Steelers defense that ranks third in the NFL in points per game allowed (18.0). The eighth-year pro continues to be stout in run defense, as he currently holds the highest PFF run defense grade (93.9) of all NFL corners. His 83.1 PFF overall grade is a career-best and fourth among his position.

Derick Hall, LB, Seattle Seahawks
Hall matched a season high with four total tackles, including three solo stops and a tackle for loss, in the Seahawks’ Monday Night Football battle against the Bears. The former second-round pick played a season-high 52 snaps and recorded three quarterback pressures to bring his season total to 21. The fourth-year pro received a 74.3 PFF tackling grade for his efforts this week and currently holds a career-best tackling grade to this point in the season.

Roger McCreary, CB, Detroit Lions
McCreary delivered another solid performance in the Lions’ 19-15 divisional win against the Vikings, recording four total tackles, including three solo stops. The former second-round pick is now up to 283 total tackles in his career, good for 21st all-time among former Tigers in the NFL. The fifth-year pro currently grades out as the ninth-best cornerback in run defense this season (82.1), according to PFF.

Jamien Sherwood, LB, New York Jets
Sherwood registered a season-high 14 total tackles in the Jets’ matchup with the Raiders, as the sixth-year pro continues to be one of the most consistent tacklers at the linebacker position in the NFL. The 14 tackles were tied for the most in the league this week and marked his 18th double-digit tackle performance in the last three seasons, including his third in the last three weeks. He ranks second in the NFL with 380 total tackles since the beginning of the 2024 season. The 2024 Jets MVP is up to 457 tackles in his six-year career and now sits 10th all-time among Auburn alumni in career NFL tackles.
