HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – Auburn men's tennis freshman Duje Markovina concluded action at the Dennis Van der Meer Shipyard Cup/M15 Hilton Head Island, competing in the singles main draw on the International Tennis Federation's World Tennis Tour.
Markovina faced Ryan Cozad in the opening round of the singles main draw on Tuesday. After dropping the first set 6-1, Markovina battled through a competitive second set before Cozad claimed the tiebreaker to secure a 6-1, 7-6 (2) victory.
Tennis action continues this week at the ITA South Sectional Championships in Tallahassee, Florida. Competition begins Thursday and is Auburn’s last chance to qualify for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships.
