AUBURN, Ala. – In honor of legendary former women’s golf coach Kim Evans, Auburn University Athletics and the Auburn University golf programs have named the student-athlete lounge at Jack Key Teaching Facility the Kim Evans Student-Athlete Lounge.
A 2008 inductee into the National Golf Coaches Hall of Fame and a 2026 inductee into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, Evans was the face of Auburn women’s golf for 21 seasons.
She led the Tigers to eight SEC Championships and seven top 10 NCAA finishes. Evans was a five-time SEC Coach of the Year and produced 29-All Americans, 58 All-SEC recipients and seven SEC Golfer of the Year honorees.
Most notable, Evans defeated ovarian cancer in 2013 and has always been involved in numerous charitable organizations involving ovarian cancer and others.
Her impact on Auburn golf and the entire golf community resulted in the WGCA naming an award after her in which the Kim Evans Award is presented annually to the college or high school coach, and Class A PGA professional, whose support of the game through teaching, coaching and involvement in the community has helped ensure the continued growth of golf, and who represents the finest qualities the sport has to offer.
Evans was instrumental in getting the Jack Key Golf Teaching facility built, which features a 30-acre practice facility and a range of nearly 400 yards. Inside the state-of-the-art facility is a lounge featuring a pool table, ping-pong table, luxury furniture and an entertainment system to allow the men’s and women’s golfers to relax before or after practice – a vision Evans had for her teams to make Auburn golf feel like home.
