AUBURN, Ala. – Facing a familiar SEC Tournament foe, the No. 23 Auburn soccer team opens postseason play Sunday against LSU in the 2026 SEC Soccer Tournament. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. CT on SEC Network at the Ashton Brosnaham Soccer Complex in Pensacola, Florida.
The two Tigers have met in the opening round of the SEC Tournament in each of the last three seasons, with Auburn looking to get past LSU in Pensacola for the first time.
“Excited to play a team that we didn’t get to play in the regular season,” head coach James Armstrong said. “LSU is playing their best soccer at the end of the year. They’re one of those teams that peak at the end. They’re very dangerous going forward and have improved defensively in recent games.”
With five goals allowed through 17 matches, Auburn broke its program record for fewest goals conceded in a regular season. The previous mark was 13 goals, set by the 2022 team.
Auburn's defense finished the regular season with the fewest goals allowed in the country. The Tigers also went the entire regular season without allowing a second-half goal.
Additionally, Auburn matched a program record with its 12th shutout of the season. The clean sheet also marked Auburn's sixth shutout in SEC play, the most in program history.
LSU battled Missouri to a scoreless draw at Walton Stadium, earning a crucial point to secure its place in the 2026 SEC Tournament. The Tigers finished the regular season with 10 points in SEC play to claim the No. 11 seed in Pensacola.
Auburn owns a 16-26-5 all-time record at the SEC Tournament and is making its conference-leading 31st appearance this week in Pensacola.
With a win, Auburn would advance to face in-state rival Alabama, the No. 3 seed, Tuesday at 2 p.m. CT on SEC Network.
