How many cheerleading squads does Auburn have?
Auburn will have one co-ed squad for 2024-25.
Are high school students or transfer students allowed to try out?
No. Tryouts are open to currently enrolled full-time Auburn University Students only. There are some additional requirements that must also be met. For additional information please see the Tryout Page.
How many cheerleaders are on the squad?
There are 21 total Auburn Cheerleaders (10 couples and 1 Mic-Man).
What athletic events do the cheerleaders cheer at?
The Auburn Cheerleaders are given the opportunity to cheer at Auburn football, men's and women's basketball, gymnastics and volleyball. We also assist the Auburn Sports Marketing Department at all home soccer matches.
How often do the cheerleaders practice?
Practice is held 4 times per week with additional weight training and conditioning occurring 2-3 times per week.
Are the cheerleaders involved in the community as well as the university?
The cheerleaders are VERY involved in both OUR community and in Auburn University activities. Auburn Cheerleaders lead pep-rallies at local elementary schools, read books to local kindergarten classes and lend a hand at local nursing homes. The cheerleaders also make public appearances at Auburn University events, clubs, and functions.

Are tryouts open to the public?
No. Tryouts are closed to the public. Callouts (the announcement of the new squad) are normally open to the public and are usually held at Cater Hall each year.
What are tryouts like?
Tryouts are generally 2-3 days long. Participants will be evaluated on technical skills and then the top candidates move on to the interview round of competition. Participants will perform cheers, a dance or motions to a band song, stunts, and tumbling during the technical round of tryouts.
What are the required skills?
Required skills differ from year to year. Skills that have been required in the past are: chair, toss extension, toss shoulders, liberty, stretch, torch, as well as a standing backhandspring (girls), back tuck (girls), a required tumbling pass (girls), and optional tumbling (guys).
Is there a weight or height limit?
There is not a weight or height limit. However, girls must be of appropriate build as to be safely lifted, thrown, held, and caught. Guys must be of appropriate build as to safely lift, throw, hold, and catch the girls.
Do the Auburn Cheerleaders receive Scholarships?
No. The Auburn Cheerleaders are not on scholarship but do receive a stipend that assists with their tuition and fees. The stipend amount varies by year but is currently $900 for the fall semester and $900 for the spring semester.
Do the Auburn Cheerleaders Compete?
No. The Auburn Cheerleaders do not compete and have no plans to compete in the near future.
May I attend a clinic if I'm a high school student or currently enrolled at another college?
No. All clinics are open to currently enrolled full-time Auburn University students only, who are eligible to tryout this year.
May I come and watch the Auburn Cheerleaders practice or practice with the Auburn cheerleaders?
No, all practices are closed to the public.
