Averee Preble, an All-American and Auburn graduate, returned to the Plains as an assistant coach for the Tigers’ Swimming and Diving program in April of 2025.

Preble, a native of Clovis, California, swam for the Orange and Blue from 2020-24, qualifying for the NCAA Championships on four different occasions and earning All-American Honorable mention honors with a 16th-place finish at the 2023 championships in Knoxville, Tennessee.

By the time Preble graduated, she finished her career as the fourth-fastest performer in school history in the 1000 free (9:38.53) and No. 7 in the 1650 free (16:02.99). Three of the top 15 swims in program history belong to Preble. She would also add SEC All-Freshman and All-SEC Second Team honors to her name before she left the Plains.

A standout in the pool and in the classroom, Preble racked up three CSCAA Academic All-American Honors (2022, 2023, 2024), was a three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll (2023, 2024, 2025) and earned SEC First-Year Academic honors in 2022.

Preble spent last season as an assistant coach at Indiana University Indianapolis. Under her guidance, the Jaguar long-distance and mid-distance freestyle group reached incredible heights across the 2024-25 campaign. Emmaleigh Zietlow set a Horizon League Championship Record in the 500 free, captured the conference title in the 200 free and set a meet record in the 200 free at the House of Champs Invite.

Meanwhile, Nathan Rariden set the Horizon League record in the 200 free, broke the program record in the 500 free and equaled Zietlow’s effort winning a title in the 200 free. Preble’s coaching helped see five men reach finals at the conference championships in the 500 free as IU Indy went on to finish second overall.
