Candace Perry is in her first year as an assistant coach for the Auburn track and field program. Perry came to Auburn after serving as a graduate assistant coach at Southeast Missouri State during the 2007-08 school year.
Perry works with Auburn[apos]s horizontal jumpers and multi-event athletes for both the men[apos]s and women[apos]s teams, assists with recruiting and is responsible for administrative duties including travel coordination, ordering and distributing equipment and coordinating summer track and field camps.
During her one year at Southeast Missouri State, Perry coached two conference champions, an indoor NCAA qualifier and an outdoor NCAA Regional qualifier. She coached athletes in the long jump, triple jump, high jump and pole vault, while also designing training and weight programs for the student-athletes.
Before beginning her coaching career, Perry competed in track and field for two years at the University of Southern Indiana and two years at Indiana University.
While attending Southern Indiana, Perry was a four-time NCAA Division II All-American and Great Lakes Valley Conference Champion in the long jump. In 2005, she was the NCAA Division II Outdoor Champion in the long jump. Perry currently holds USI indoor and outdoor school records in the long jump and multiple relays, and ranks second in the indoor 55 meters, 200 meters and triple jump and the outdoor 100 meters.
In her first indoor season at Indiana, Perry placed third in the long jump at the 2006 Big Ten Conference Championships and was an NCAA Indoor Regional qualifier. During the 2006 and 2007 outdoor seasons, she placed in the top five in the long jump at the Big Ten Conference Championships.
Perry received her bachelor[apos]s degree in general studies with a concentration in social and behavioral sciences from Indiana University.
