Assistant coach Cathy Sursi begins her third year working with the Auburn swimming team but her first as a fulltime member of the coaching staff, being promoted to assistant coach after two years as a gradaute assistant. Part of Sursi[apos]s new responsibilities will include assisting both the men[apos]s and women[apos]s teams in recruiting while also handling administrative duties.
A four-year letter winner for the Tigers and a former captain, Sursi, who graduated in 2000 with a degree in communications, earned All-America honors in the 400 IM twice and the 200 breaststroke once during her time as a swimmer on the Plains. [quote]When she was swimming here I had a hunch that someday she would be a coach,[quote] Auburn Head Coach David Marsh said. [quote]She has all the communication skills and the athletic curiosity that is the foundation of many great coaches.
[quote] After working in Atlanta for two years, Sursi returned to her alma mater to pursue her Masters in Health Promotion and work with the swimming team. Sursi[apos]s primary responsibilities with the swimming team include coaching, recruiting, issuing equipment and video analysis.
