With more than 30 years of experience on the Plains, Dr. Kathryn Flynn has been part of Auburn Athletics since 1992. Dr. Flynn serves as the Senior Associate AD of Student-Athlete Support Services, a unit that provides academic counseling, academic tutoring and academic skills development support for all student-athletes.
 
Flynn joined the faculty at Auburn in 1992, first with a joint Alabama Cooperative Extension Specialist and faculty assignment in the School of Forestry and Wildlife Sciences. In 2001 she took study leave and worked for The Nature Conservancy in Birmingham Alabama, serving as Director of Conservation Programs for Alabama. She returned to Auburn in late 2001.
 
She served as Secretary (2006) and Chair (2009) of the University Senate. In 2010 she was named Director of both the Interdisciplinary Studies Undergraduate degree program and the Academic Counseling and Advising Center (Cater Center).
 
Dr. Flynn graduated with a bachelor’s degree in botany from Auburn University in 1980. She received her Master of Science (1986) and Doctor of Philosophy (1992) in marine sciences with a focus on wetland ecology from LSU.
 
A native of Birmingham, Alabama, Dr. Flynn has a daughter, Mary Rose Dawson, who lives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
