Education: Nelson earned a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from BYU in 2016 and a master’s degree in Human Performance with a concentration in Strength and Conditioning from Liberty University in 2024.
Job Responsibilities: As Assistant Director of Olympic Sports Performance, Nelson serves as the strength coach for Auburn Gymnastics and Men’s and Women’s Swim & Dive.
Experience: Prior to joining Auburn, Nelson served as a strength coach at West Virginia University, working with women’s volleyball and men’s and women’s swim & dive. Before entering collegiate athletics, he spent 10 years working in the private sector in athletic performance.
Personal: A native of Bountiful, Utah, Nelson has competed in multiple sports, including tennis, team handball, curling, jiu-jitsu, and bodybuilding. Alabama is the seventh state he has called home.
