Estevam Strecker embarks on his third season as the women[apos]s tennis assistant coach. A native of Novo Hamburgo, Brazil, Strecker played for Auburn from 1998-2002, where he finished 86-56 (.606 winning percentage). His 86 career victories rank sixth all-time in Auburn history. While at Auburn, Strecker won the 1999 USC Fall Invitational Championship and 2001 FSU Seminole Invitational.
In 2002, Strecker was co-captain of the team that finished runner-up in the SEC and reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. That team ended the season 12th nationally in the final ITA rankings.
Off the court, Strecker was named to the SEC All-Academic team three times and was an Academic All-American. Following the 2002 season, Strecker received the prestigious Cliff Hare Award, given annually to the male athlete, who [quote]in addition to athletic and scholastic achievement, exhibits in great degree the qualities of leadership, integrity and courage.[quote]
Strecker graduated from Auburn in 2002 with a bachelor[apos]s degree in exercise science.
