Education: Kiara Scott, B.A., earned her bachelor’s degrees from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock, where she also competed as a member of the women’s basketball team. Her bachelor’s degrees are in Interdisciplinary Studies, with concentration areas in Biology, Psychology, and Health and Exercise Science; and in Psychology. Kiara is currently finishing her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at Louisiana Tech University and is currently completing her APA-approved pre-doctoral internship at Auburn University.
Job Responsibilities: Under the supervision of Counseling and Sport Psychology (CSP) staff, Kiara takes an integrated approach to student-athlete mental health and works with student-athletes on the full spectrum of well-being from sport performance enhancement to clinical mental health concerns. She provides individual services, consults with athletic department staff on student-athlete mental health needs, and assists in the development of psychoeducational and outreach programming.
Past Experience: As part of her training at Louisiana Tech, Kiara has provided individual and group psychotherapy, outreach presentations, psychological assessment, and crisis services to diverse adolescent, college, and community populations. She has also engaged specifically with LA Tech student-athletes regarding outreach, crisis support, and individual therapy. Kiara has also provided behavioral health services in a community mental health setting based in south Louisiana.
Personal: A native of Houma, Louisiana, Kiara enjoys exercising, watching sports, listening to music, and spending time with family and friends.
