Education: Lauren Greenspoon earned her bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Tennessee – Chattanooga, where she also competed as a member of the volleyball team. She earned a master’s degree in Kinesiology with an Emphasis in Sport Psychology from the University of North Texas (UNT). Lauren is finishing her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Southern Mississippi (USM) and is currently completing her APA-approved pre-doctoral internship at Auburn University. She is also currently pursuing Certified Mental Performance Consultant® (CMPC®) certification.
Job Responsibilities: Under the supervision of Counseling and Sport Psychology (CSP) staff, Lauren takes an integrated and relational approach to student-athlete mental health and works with student-athletes on the full spectrum of well-being from sport performance enhancement to clinical mental health concerns. She provides individual services, consults with athletic department staff on student-athlete mental health needs, and assists in the development of psychoeducational and outreach programming.
Past Experience: During her time at USM, Lauren trained in a college mental health clinic, men’s substance use residential treatment, women’s residential treatment, evaluation center for professionals, and both inpatient and outpatient settings at the Veterans Healthcare System. She has had varied experiences such as individual and group therapy, psychodiagnostic testing and neurocognitive screeners, comprehensive evaluations, ADHD/ASD testing, crisis intervention, supervision, and outreach. She has also provided performance enhancement services to high school teams, college athletes, and cadets both during her time at UNT and through an internship at the United States Military Academy – West Point.
Personal: A native of Houston, Texas, Lauren enjoys watching/engaging in sports, spending time with friends and family, savoring a yummy dessert or good cup of coffee, and watching/reading psychological thrillers.
