Education: Powell received his bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Performance with a minor in Coaching from Emporia State University in May 2019.
Job Responsibilities: As Assistant Director of Sports Performance, Powell is responsible for the development and implementation of strength and conditioning programs for Women’s Volleyball and Gymnastics. He also leads and oversees the Graduate Assistant Program for the Sports Performance staff.
Experience: Powell joins Auburn from The Ohio State University, where he worked primarily with Women’s Volleyball, Men’s Volleyball, and Softball from July 2022 to August 2025. Prior to Ohio State, Powell worked at Jackson State University, where he assisted with Football and led the strength and conditioning programs for Baseball, Softball, Soccer, Track and Field, and Cheer from January 2021 to June 2022. He began his coaching career at Arkansas State University, assisting with Football and leading the strength and conditioning programs for Baseball, Track and Field, Rugby, Bowling, and Cheer from May 2019 to December 2021.
Personal: A native of Edgerton, Kansas, Powell played college Football for four years at Emporia State University. He resides in Auburn with his wife, Shannon, and their son, Kash.
