Michael Shumaker was named an assistant strength and conditioning coach at Auburn in September following a two-year run as the Director of Strength and Conditioning at Radford University.

Shumaker, a Forest, Miss., native, is in charge of all strength and conditioning for Auburn[apos]s baseball and track and field teams, designing and implementing programs for both teams while also overseeing the Plainsman Park weight room.

In Shumaker[apos]s role at Radford he oversaw the day-to-day operations of the entire athletics department strength and conditioning program, working directly with the baseball, men[apos]s basketball, women[apos]s basketball, men[apos]s tennis and volleyball teams.

Shumaker, who went to Radford from Biloxi (Miss.) High School, was a graduate assistant coach at his alma mater, Mississippi State, from 2007-09. During his time in Starkville he was in charge of the men[apos]s and women[apos]s track and field squads while assisting with the football and baseball teams.

A 2005 graduate of Mississippi State with a degree in physical education, Shumaker was a member of the MSU baseball and football teams. He then went on to earn his his Master of Science in Instructional Technology in 2009 from Mississippi State in 2009.

Shumaker is married to the former Edie Robinson. The couple have a daughter, Rhylynn (2).
