Education: Rena Curvey, M.S., earned her bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) in May 2014, where she also competed as a member of the Rifle team. She earned a master’s degree in Kinesiology and Health Promotion with an emphasis in Sport Psychology in December of 2017 and a master’s degree in Counseling Psychology in May of 2019 from the University of Kentucky. Rena is currently finishing her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at the University of Kentucky and is completing her APA approved pre-doctoral internship at Auburn University.
Job Responsibilities: Under the supervision of Counseling and Sport Psychology (CSP) staff, Rena takes a holistic approach to student-athlete mental health and works with student-athletes on the full spectrum of well-being from performance enhancement to clinical mental health concerns. She provides individual services, consults with athletic department staff on student-athlete mental health needs and assists in the development of psychoeducational and outreach programming.
Past Experience: Rena comes to Auburn after training in a variety of settings, including university counseling centers, veteran affairs (VA) medical centers, university medical clinics, and university athletic departments.
Personal: A native of Winchester Massachusetts, Rena enjoys spending time with her partner and family, watching sports, yoga, and walking.
