Sue Guevara enters her third season with the Tigers bringing a multitude of experience at the Division I level, joining the staff in April 2004. Prior to coming to Auburn, Guevara led the Michigan Wolverines for seven seasons including a 123-82 record during that period.

With those 123 victories, Guevara became the winningest basketball coach in the history of Michigan athletics. From 2000-02, the Wolverines earned consecutive trips to the NCAA Tournament under the direction of Guevara and were catapulted into the national spotlight. In addition to the three NCAA Tournament appearances, Michigan made two WNIT appearances with the leadership of Guevara.

In 2001-2002 and again in 2002-03, Michigan moved up the ranks and received its highest ranking ever at No. 12 with Guevara at the helm. In Big Ten play, the team went 57-55 during her stint, which is the most conference wins in the program[apos]s history.

Awards and honors are prevalent in Guevara[apos]s basketball career, as she was named the Big Ten Coach of the Year in 1998 and 2000, the Michigan Coach of the Year in 2000 and has been named to the Saginaw Catholic Schools Hall of Fame.

While at Michigan, Guevara served as the Big Ten All-Star Team head coach in 2000, touring the team through Austria, Slovakia and Hungary.

Before coaching at Michigan, Guevara worked as an assistant, and then associate head coach, at Michigan State from 1987-96. In her time at Michigan State, the Spartans played to a 149-131 record in those 10 years. In 1993, Guevara was named an assistant coach with the Big Ten All-Star Tour Team, which recorded a perfect 6-0 record while playing in England and Scotland.

Guevara was named as an assistant coach at Ball State for the 1985-86 season, after helping Ohio State reach the NCAA Tournament Regional final and earn a Big Ten Championship as a graduate assistant coach in 1985.

Saginaw Valley State gave Guevara her start, however, as the 1982 graduate became the school[apos]s assistant women[apos]s basketball coach, the head softball coach and intramural director from 1979-84 at her alma mater.

Guevara enjoys running, biking, the outdoors, reading, music and walking her dogs.
