Tim Craft begins his third year on Coach Jeff Lebo[apos]s staff at Auburn University and his second season as an assistant coach. He spent his first season as the Director of Basketball Operations at Auburn for the 2007-08 season.
Craft[apos]s coaching duties include recruiting, scouting and scheduling. As the Director of Basketball Operations, he handled the day-to-day responsibilities in the basketball office as well as team travel and scheduling.
He played a key role in Auburn[apos]s 2008-09 team that finished with the second most wins in school history by going 24-12 overall and finished second overall in the SEC with a 10-6 record. The Tigers came within an eyelash of reaching the NIT Final Four.
The Tallahassee, Fla., native came to Auburn after a three-year stint as an assistant coach at Gardner-Webb University from 2004-07. He helped lead Gardner-Webb to the Atlantic Sun regular season title in 2004-05 in his first year at the school. It was Gardner-Webb[apos]s first Atlantic Sun title in any sport.
Craft coached four All-Atlantic Sun players in his three years and recruited and coached Tim Jennings, the first two-time Conference Defensive Player of the Year in Atlantic Sun history. He helped to assemble a top 50 national recruiting class for Gardner-Webb in 2006 (No. 49 by hoopscooponline.com).
Prior to coaching at Gardner-Webb, Craft spent two seasons as an assistant at Pensacola (Fla.) Junior College under coach Paul Swanson.
In 2003-04, the Pirates went 20-10 and were ranked as high as No. 13 nationally.
At PJC, he coached Joel Anthony, a former UNLV standout and current member of the Miami Heat. Anthony was the 2007 Mountain West Player of the Year.
Twelve players signed Div. I scholarships during his two years at PJC and 10 of the 11 sophomores graduated during his tenure.
Craft began his coaching career as the assistant varsity coach and head junior varsity coach at Robert F. Munroe School in Quincy, Fla., in 2000-01. He was promoted to the Head Varsity Boy[apos]s Basketball Coach at Munroe the following season in 2001-02 before moving to PJC in 2002-03.
Craft earned his B.A. in History and a minor in Secondary Education from the University of Florida in 2000.
Born Feb. 3, 1977, Craft is married to the former Jessica Arenas of Tallahassee, Fla., and they have two daughters, Lola Anne Craft (2) and Macy Caroline (born Dec. 21, 2008) as well as a golden retriever named Bear.
