Education: Thomas received a bachelor's degree in education with an emphasis in sport leadership from Auburn University at Montgomery in 2011. He earned a master's degree in Education with an emphasis in exercise physiology from Auburn University at Montgomery in 2013 as well as a master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in sport administration from Auburn University at Montgomery in 2019.

Job Responsibilities: Thomas serves as the Director of Academic Support Services overseeing the staff that works with the football and volleyball teams..

Past Experience: Before transitioning into his current role, Thomas served as an Academic Counselor for the football and volleyball teams at Auburn. Thomas came to Auburn after serving as the Athletic Academic Advisor/Student-Athlete Development Coordinator at Old Dominion University, where he had academic responsibilities with football, men's and women's golf, and women's rowing. He was also responsible for the coordination of all student-athlete development programs and events. Prior to Old Dominion, Thomas spent a year at the University of Alabama as an Athletic Academic Assistant assisting with football, men's basketball, and tutorial services. He also spent two years at Georgia Southern University as an Academic Advisor/Intervention Specialist for the Health and Kinesiology Department with the College of Health and Human Sciences. Prior to these roles, Thomas served three years as a collegiate football Strength and Conditioning Coach.

Personal: A native of Tuskegee, Alabama, Thomas and his late wife, Ruby R. Thomas, have a son, Travis "SJ" Thomas, Jr.
