AUBURN HEAD COACH PETE WATSON
On the win...
"It was a great way to start. It was a good to win in front of family and friends. It is special to win here and represent Auburn. We came in expecting to win. Every time we line up, we're expecting to win.
On the competition...
"There is always good competition. There were some great individuals and some solid teams. It was a good field and I'm proud of what we accomplished."
SOUTH ALABAMA JUNIOR VINCENT RONO
On the race... "It was good. I enjoyed it. I had my teammate (Tony Okello) beside me so we could push each other. It was nice running with him. The course was nice. I liked running between the fans. I'm happy with the win."
Women
CHATTANOOGA SENIOR SHANNON WOMMACK
On the race...
"I was a little worried coming out here today. I had a virus earlier in the week so I knew if I let up any that they would give me a really good race to the finish. I had the 24-hour bug, but it went away. I had two days to recover. The race went very well and the course was nice."
On the weather conditions...
"It was a lot cooler than it has been lately. For me, that really helps but for other people, that kind of hurts them. The course was nice and cut and worked nicely, so that was good. It was a good day."
AUBURN SENIOR Angela Homan
On the competition...
"There was some great competition. Chattanooga and Samford have great teams and I thought that they would be my main competition today. They went out hard and I tried to stay with them."
On the race...
"My legs weren't ready to run today. I'm going to try to get something figured out in the next few weeks. I'm going to try to stay positive. It's my senior year and I'm going to try to make the best of it. We're going to get things going. It's good to see family, friends, teammates, and classmates out here cheering everybody on."
On the rest of the season...
"Next week we're traveling to Indiana for Pre-Nationals. In three weeks, we have our SEC meet so we are going to be getting geared up for that. I'm looking forward to the rest of the season."
