Auburn, Ala. - The Auburn men's tennis team terrorized the Troy Trojans, 7-0, Wednesday afternoon at the Auburn University Tennis Complex. Auburn maintained its undefeated record, moving to 3-0, while Troy fell to 0-4.

The Trojans were no pushovers as many of the matches were hard-fought and the overall match lasted well over three hours.

"We were very fortunate to win the doubles point," said Auburn head coach Eric Shore. "Troy deserved to win doubles. We have got to get better at doubles. We were very flat at the start and Troy jumped on us. This has always been our problem in the past; we just aren't ready to play sometimes. If we expect to contend in the SEC, we have to do better at that.'

Auburn took the momentum after beating Troy in the No.2 doubles match, but lost in the No.3, and then took the doubles point in a hard-fought No.1 match.

In doubles action, Alex Schweizer and Alexey Tsyrenov won the No.2 match 8-3, over Dai Edwards-Evans and Diego Martinez. Stephen Nash and Terence Nugent were defeated by Bona Ung and Bastian Maucher 8-6. It was all up to Robbert Lathouwers and Lukas Marsoun who proved worthy of the No.1 spot by defeating Irving Morales and Dusan Medan 9-7, in one of the most exciting matches of the day.

In singles, Troy's Dusan Medan was no match for Auburn's Lukas Marsoun who took the No.3 match 6-1, 6-1.

Auburn's No. 2, Robbert Lathouwers brought the Tigers to a strong 3-0 lead after besting Bona Ung 6-2, 6-2. In the No.6 spot, Tsyrenov continued to show Auburn's power by defeating Dai Edwards-Evans 6-1, 6-2.

The Tigers continued to roll as Pawel Dilaj took the win at the No.5 court over Guilherme Sahardi. It was all but over after Milan Krnjetin beat Bastian Maucher 6-3, 6-3, at the No.4 spot.

In probably the toughest match, Auburn's Schweizer outlasted Irving Morales 6-4, 6-2. That No.1 match was the longest of the day.

The Tigers will be back in action on Feb. 11, as they take on the Bulls of the University of South Florida at 12 p.m., in Tampa. The next home match is Feb. 17 as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets visit the Auburn Tennis Complex at 12 p.m.
