No. 10 Auburn Drops Meet To No. 1 Florida

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -

For the second week in a row, the No. 10 Auburn Tigers' opponent recorded the highest score in the nation as AU fell to No. 1 Florida, 197.650-195.625. The loss drops the Tigers to 4-3 overall and 1-2 in the SEC, while the Gators moved to 8-0-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the SEC.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

"We bring out the best in all of our opponents," head coach Jeff Thompson said. "I was disappointed with the way we finished on beam. A.J. was outstanding on beam, however, and she keeps getting better every week. Julie had another great meet, and she continues to be our anchor."

Junior Julie Dwyer took home a tie for second in the all-around with a 39.500, tying for the fourth highest score in <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Auburn history. The Bloomington, Ind., native, also tied for first on vault (9.925) for the ninth vault title of her career. Her score also tied for the second highest in school history, and she now owns a tie for the highest and second highest vault scores.

Sophomore A.J. Mills tied for first on beam with a 9.900, earning her second straight beam title. Mills also took fourth in the all-around with a 39.350, her second highest career score.

Freshman Krissy Voss pulled through with a solid meet as well, scoring a career high of 39.000 in the all-around.

The Tigers opened the dual meet on bars and scored a 48.950. Lindsey Puckett and Julie Dwyer co-led AU after each posted scores of 9.825. A.J. Mills followed with a solid score of 9.800, while Alicia Lenkiewicz and Krissy Voss each registered scores of 9.750. Jackie Smith, competing in the bar lineup for the first time since Feb. 2, 2005, recorded a 9.725.

On the second rotation, trailing 49.300-48.950, AU totaled a 49.125 on vault, its second highest score of the season. Auburn was led by Dwyer, who recorded a 9.925, which was her second highest of the season. Puckett came through with her second highest total of the year as well, a 9.875. Karmen Pinckney, who was competing for the first time this season, scored a 9.800 to tie with Mills. Voss and Somero rounded out the scoring with a pair of 9.725's.

Trailing 98.700-98.075, the Tigers headed into the third rotation where they posted a 49.150 on floor, their second best score of the season. Dwyer led the way with a 9.875, followed by Mills, who earned a career-high score of 9.850 and Puckett, who also delivered a 9.850. Voss totaled a 9.800, a career high, while Carmen Nelms finished up the scoring for Auburn with a 9.775.

Auburn headed into the final rotation, down 148.000-147.225. Mills posted the high score for AU with a 9.900 for the second straight week. Dwyer came away with a 9.875, followed by Somero's' score of 9.750, her second highest of the season. Voss posted a 9.725, while Puckett rounded out the scoring with a 9.150.

The Tigers will have a week off before hosting LSU on Friday, Feb. 16 at Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum. The meet is set to begin at 7 p.m. Central.
