The No. 12 Auburn Tigers put together three solid rotations, but struggled on beam, dropping a road contest to No. 2 Georgia, 197.325-195.150 on Friday at Stegeman Coliseum.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
"We had a good chance to make a really nice road score," head coach Jeff Thompson said. "But we struggled to finish on beam, and didn't perform like the number four beam team in the country."
Junior Julie Dwyer took home third place finish in the all around with a 39.350. The <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Bloomington, Ind., native, also tied for first on floor (9.900) for the first floor title of the season and fourth of her career. Dwyer also tied for third on bars wih a 9.875
Sophomore A.J. Mills finished fourth in the all around, posting a 39.250.
The Tigers opened the dual meet on bars with a solid total of 48.975, tying its second highest score of the season. Dwyer led the way with a 9.875, tying her highest score of the season. Puckett and Mills each posted a 9.825. For Puckett, it was her highest score of the season, while it tied the second highest for Mills. Rounding out scoring for AU was Krissy Voss' 9.750 and Jackie Smith's 9.700.
On the second rotation, trailing 49.400-48.975, AU totaled a 49.050 on vault. The Tigers were led by Carmen Nelms and Lindsey Puckett, each recording a 9.825. Nelms' score was a season high, and marked just the second time that the freshman has competed in the event. The next three scorers for Auburn were Mills, Dwyer and Voss, who each posted a 9.800.
Trailing 98.850-98.025, the Tigers headed into the third rotation where they posted a 49.025 on floor that included a step out by Claire Seiffert. Dwyer led the way with a 9.900, tying a career high. Puckett scored a 9.850, tying her second highest score of the year, while Mills registered a 9.825, which was her second highest score of the year as well. Rounding out scoring was Voss' 9.800, which tied a season high, and Seiffert's 9.650.
Auburn headed into the final rotation, down 147.900-147.050, but the Tigers struggled to get anything going, counting a fall and scoring a 48.100. Mills posted the high score for AU with a 9.800. Dwyer came away with a 9.775, followed by Somero's' score of 9.650. Nelms posted a 9.575, while Puckett rounded out the scoring with a 9.300.
The Tigers will return home to face Arkansas on Friday, March 2 at 7 p.m. CT at Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum in Auburn.
