No. 10 Arizona State snapped No. 23 Auburn's eight-game winning streak with an 8-2 victory over the Tigers on Friday night at Plainsman Park.

Arizona State (12-3) scored four two-out runs in the top of the second on a walk, three singles and a double to pull away from the Tigers early before tacking on a run in the fourth, sixth and two in the ninth.

"They are really good and they had a great two-strike approach. Bryan Woodall did a great job of getting two strikes on them, but they were hard to put away," Auburn Head Coach Tom Slater said. "Bryan made some nice pitches but they did a good job of putting the ball in play."

Auburn starter Bryan Woodall (2-1) took the loss for the Tigers, giving up six runs on 13 hits in 5.0 innings. The six runs were the first earned runs the sophomore had given up this season.

ASU's Josh Satow (4-1) threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball, holding Auburn to five hits and two walks while striking out three.

Auburn (11-2) scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth off of ASU reliever Mike Leake. Andy Bennett and Dustin Spruill both had pinch-hit RBI singles in the inning.

Freshman Robert Brooks finished the night 2-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. It marks his sixth multi-hit game of the year.

The two teams will play the second game of the three-game series at 2 pm CT on Saturday.
