Tigers Beat By Ole Miss Rebels, 4-0, In Second Round of SEC Tourney

Baton Rouge, La. - The seventh-seeded Auburn men's tennis team was defeated by second-seeded Ole Miss, 4-0, on Friday afternoon at the W.T. "Dub" Robinson Tennis Stadium in Baton Rouge, La. After dropping Kentucky, 4-0, on Thursday, the Tiger's loss in round two puts them out of the SEC Tournament.

The Tigers now stand with a 14-9 overall record and will await the announcement from the NCAA selection committee on May 1 as to where the Tigers will play in the first round of the NCAA Tournament set to begin on May 11.

Auburn had trouble against the Rebels from the start, as Ole Miss captured the lead early in the match. On court one, the Tiger's No. 44 doubles team, Alex Schweizer and Robbert Lathouwers, were taken by No. 27 Erling Tveit and Eric Claesson, 8-1. In the No.3 doubles match, Lukas Marsoun and Alexey Tsyrenov were defeated by Jakob Klaeson and Robbye Poole, 8-4, giving the Rebel's the doubles point.

Ole Miss' Jonas Berg and Matthias Wellermann were winning against Auburn's Pawel Dilaj and Terence Nugent, 6-3, on court two, but were not asked to complete their match.

After losing in doubles, the Tigers failed to gain control in the singles matches. The Rebel's No.13 Erling Tveit triumphed, 6-2, 4-3, after Auburn's No. 57 Alex Schweizer retired during the second set of the No.1 match. In the No.5 spot, Pawel Dilaj fell to Ole Miss' Jonas Berg, 6-0, 6-3.

On court No. 4, Kalle Norberg ensured the Rebel's victory, when he took Alexey Tsyrenov, 6-4, 6-1.

No. 38 Robbert Lathouwers and Lukas Marsoun were both tied in their matches, but were not asked to finish. Milan Krnjetin was one point away from being defeated on court six.

The Tigers will return home and wait to see if they will receive an invite to the NCAA Tournament for what would be their eighth consecutive year. The selection show is scheduled for Tuesday, May 1.
