The Auburn baseball team could only muster one run on six hits while No. 3 Arkansas pounded out 17 hits en route to an 8-1 win and a series victory on Sunday at Plainsman Park.

Arkansas (35-12, 15-6 SEC) put at least one man on base in every inning but the eighth, roughing up Auburn starter Bryan Woodall (2-2) for seven runs on 13 hits and two walks in 5.2 innings and touching Austin Hubbard for one run on four hits in 3.1 innings.

At the plate Justin Bristow led Auburn in his first start of the season, going 2-for-4 with a run. He also may have had the game-changing at-bat of the game as he lined a ball that Arkansas third baseman Logan Forsythe picked up and turned into a five-three double play to end the fourth. The score was 4-1 Arkansas at the time and Auburn had runners on first and second after Robert Brooks singled and Ross Smith drew a four-pitch walk. Auburn would not get a hit off of Arkansas starter Jess Todd again until there was one down in the eighth.

"That was the play of the ball game, no question," Auburn Head Coach Tom Slater said. "Justin hit that ball really well and Forsythe made a great play and had the presence of mind to step on third and throw to first to make that double-play. That's a sure double and gets us at least one run out of it and have second-and-third with the score 4-2 and only one out."

Todd (6-2) went the distance for Arkansas, striking out eight while walking just two.

Auburn (28-19, 7-14 SEC), which is done with its non-conference schedule, will head to Starkville, Miss., to play a three-game set against Mississippi State next weekend. Game times are set for 6:30pm CT on Friday, 6pm on Saturday and 1:30pm on Sunday. Saturday's game will be aired live on CSS.
