AUBURN, Ala. - Auburn sophomore Felix Kiboiywo has been named the SEC Male Cross Country Athlete of the Week, and Joby Peake was named Male Freshman of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
Kiboiywo led Auburn to its second team title in as many competitions, finishing as the top collegiate runner at the Bulldog Stampede Invitational Saturday in Athens, Ga. Kiboiywo finished with a time of 24:45.93, which was the second-best time ever run on that course. He finished nearly 22 seconds ahead of the second-best collegiate runner while posting the top collegiate mark for the second competition in a row.
Peake finished 20th overall and 18th among collegians at the Bulldog Stampede with a time of 26:38.94. His time was the second-best mark among collegians in the field of 10 teams.
Auburn won the team title with 45 points, topping host Georgia, which was second with 55 points.
The Auburn men's and women's cross country teams will be back in action on Sept. 29 when Auburn hosts the Tiger Invitational at the Indian Pines Golf Course. The women are set to kick off the event at 9:30 a.m., with the men to follow at 10:15 a.m.
