LEXINGTON, Ky. - Auburn went 2-0 in the first day of the 2007 ITA Southeast Regional with Pawel Dilaj and Terence Nugent picking up wins in opening-round play.
Dilaj got things going with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Memphis' Charlie Ramsay in his first-round match. Dilaj will now play Florida's Dan Cash in a 10:30 a.m., Friday second-round matchup.
Nugent had to go three sets in his match, but pulled out the 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 win over Stetson's Joey Jones. Nugent will take on Vanderbilt's Vijay Paul at 8 a.m., Friday.
Also competing at the tournament is Alexey Tsyrenov. The junior from Russia earned a bye to the third round and will take on Ole Miss' Jakob Klaeson on Friday at 2 p.m.
Tsyrenov and Nugent are also competing in the doubles bracket and will play their first-round match on Friday at 8 a.m. against Memphis' Spencer Heflin and Michael Gaerthhoeffner.
