Auburn's Kiboiywo Set For XC NCAA Championships

Nov. 15, 2007

Auburn, Ala. - Felix Kiboiywo, Auburn's top cross country runner, heads to Terre Haute, Ind., to compete in the NCAA Cross Country Championship on Nov. 19, hosted by Indiana State. He will race in the men's 10K, starting at 11:05 a.m., CST.

"This is Felix's first NCAA Championship," said Auburn head coach Peter Watson. "It will be a learning experience for him. He has been training and racing great all year and we are excited for him to line up and race with this much talent. Monday will be an exciting day for Auburn cross country."

A sophomore, Kiboiywo is only the third male in Auburn history to individually qualify for the championships. He follows in the footsteps of Brian Abshire, 1984 and 1985, and Chris Walsh, 2004.

A native of Eldoret, Kenya, this is Kiboiywo's first cross country season with Auburn. He placed in the top seven of every race he competed in this year, including a first place finish at the NCAA South Regional, which earned his spot in the championships. His best 10K of the season was at the regionals, clocking 30:05.48.

The race will be broadcast live on the Web at www.ustfccca.org from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., CST. The men's race will begin at 11:05 p.m., CST. Championship information is available at www.gosycamores.com.
