Nov. 17, 2007

Auburn, Ala. - Auburn cross country's top-runner Felix Kiboiywo was named South Region Athlete of the Year, announced Friday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Kiboiywo, a sophomore from Eldoret, Kenya, earned the honor with his title-winning performance at the NCAA South Regional on Nov. 10. He took home the regional crown with a 30:06, first-place 10K finish. He is the only AU men's runner to win the regional title.

Kiboiywo will race in the NCAA Championship held in Terre Haute, Ind., and hosted by Indiana State University on Nov. 19. Kiboiywo joins former Auburn cross country runners Brian Abshire and Chris Walsh as the only three in Auburn History to individually qualify for the championships.
