AUBURN, Ala. -
Mike Bianucci drove in three runs while Brian Fletcher added two to bring his RBI total up to 14 in the last 11 games as Auburn won 9-6 on Tuesday night over Georgia State. The win improved Auburn's record to 21-12 while Georgia State dropped to 18-12.
"We came out offensively and did a nice job," Auburn Head Coach Tom Slater said. "Position player-wise we played a fairly clean game. Our hitters did an alright job and we got the win."
Auburn paired a score of runs in the first on sacrifice flies by Mike Bianucci (1-for-1, 3B, BB, 3 RBI) and Hunter Morris (1-for-4, 2 R) to take an early 2-0 lead.
Georgia State answered with four runs over the next two innings only to have Auburn tie it up at 4-4 in the third as Joseph Sanders (1-for-5, RBI) doubled in a run and then Kevin Patterson (0-for-3) delivered Auburn's third sacrifice fly of the night.
Auburn took a three-run lead at 7-4 in the fourth as Matt Hall (1-for-4, BB, 2 R) walked and then scored from third when Sanders reached on an error before Fletcher (1-for-3) drove in a pair with a single that extended his hitting streak to 11 games.
Auburn added to its lead when Bianucci's collected his second triple of the year, a liner that scored two in the fifth.
The Auburn defense turned a season-high three double plays on the night.
Hall's first-inning single extended his hitting streak to 14 games.
Luke Greinke (3-2) picked up the win, throwing 2.0 innings in relief, allowing one run on four hits while striking out two.
Joel Reeves (1-1) took the loss for Georgia State, allowing two unearned runs in 1.0 inning of work.
Auburn returns to the diamond on Wednesday night against Mississippi Valley State.
