Kiboiywo and Knight Named NCAA South Region Athletes of the Year

AUBURN - Auburn cross country runners Felix Kiboiywo and Holly Knight have been named NCAA South Region Male and Female Athletes of the Year, respectively, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced Thursday.

Kiboiywo, a junior from Eldoret, Kenya, earned his second NCAA South Region Athlete of the Year award after running to his second-straight regional championship. The win was his first of the season. Kiboiywo will run in his second NCAA Championships on Monday.

Knight qualified for her first NCAA Championships with a 21-second victory at the NCAA South Regional. The sophomore from Devon, England, is the first female runner from Auburn to win a regional title. She has placed among the top four in five races this season.

Both Kiboiywo and Knight, along with the entire Auburn men's team, will be running in the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Monday. The women's 6K starts at 11:08 a.m., with the men's 10K to follow at 11:48 a.m. CT.
