NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Auburn junior Tim Puetz and sophomore Alex Stamchev finished competition at the 2009 ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships held on the campus of Yale University.
The pair opened the day with a quarterfinal match against the third-seeded Bradley Klahn and Ryan Thatcher of Stanford. Puetz and Stamchev fell, 8-5, to conclude doubles play.
Puetz also competed in the consolation singles bracket, facing South Carolina's Diego Cubas. The Vsiugen, Germany, native lost to Cubas in three sets, 2-6, 6-3, 4-6.
The Tigers return to the court when they host the Auburn Fall Classic, Nov. 20-22, at the City of Auburn/Auburn University Yarbrough Tennis Center.
