Athens, Ga. - Alisa Goler's RBI single in the sixth inning proved to be the game's only run as 13th-ranked Georgia defeated Auburn softball 1-0 to complete a three-game sweep of the Tigers.

Auburn's record dropped to 23-20 overall and 6-14 in the Southeastern Conference. Georgia improved to 36-8 overall and 14-6 in the SEC. The Tigers return to action Wednesday, April 21, when they host the Mississippi State Bulldogs at 4 p.m. for a two-game series.

Jenee Loree took the loss to fall to 2-4. Loree started and went 6.0 innings, allowing one run, earned, on six hits, with three walks and four strikeouts.

Erin Arevalo (16-5) started and went the distance for Georgia. Arevalo scattered four hits, walked one and fanned five in earning the complete-game victory.

After the Tigers and Bulldogs combined to score 19 runs Saturday, pitching dominated the finale Sunday afternoon. Loree and Arevalo tossed shutouts through the first five innings of play.

In the top of the sixth, the Tigers put two on with no outs after consecutive singles by Katie Colton and Amber Harrison. But, Arevalo was about to force two fielder's choice ground outs and a pop-up to short to end the inning to maintain the scoreless tie.

The Bulldogs got the leadoff hitter on to open the bottom of the sixth when Alisa Goler doubled down the left field line. Sara Sikes was put in to pinch-run for Goler and quickly moved to third on a wild pitch by Loree. Ashley Razey followed with a single through the left side to plate Sikes and give Georgia a 1-0 lead. Loree recovered and ended the inning on a strikeout to maintain the one-run deficit.

In the top of the seventh, Arevalo got Lindsey Harrelson to fly out to center for the first out and Krista Clyde to foul out to deep left for the second out. Arevalo then got Caitlin Stangl on a swinging strike three to end the game.
