Auburn Duo Falls in Semifinals

TULSA, Okla. - The 26th ranked doubles team of Auburn senior Alex Stamchev and junior Andreas Mies fell to the No. 1 duo of Juan Spir and Kevin King from Georgia Tech in three sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-4 at the ITA All-American Championships at the University of Tulsa.

Stamchev and Mies, who earned an automatic bid into the final draw, defeated three Top-20 opponents to reach the semifinals. In the first round, the Tiger duo topped Duke's 15th-ranked combo of Henrique Cunha and Chris Mengel, 8-5. On Friday, Stamchev and Mies defeated the No. 18 duo of New Mexico's Jadon Phillips and Phil Anderson, before upsetting Tulsa's No. 4 Clifford Marsland and Ashley Watling, 8-6.

The Tigers will have a week hiatus before returning to play at home in the USTA/ITA Southern Regional at the Yarborough Tennis Center on October 20-24.
