TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - Auburn Cross Country heads to Tuscaloosa, Ala. for the second time in a month this weekend for the 2011 NCAA South Regional hosted by the University of Alabama.
The races are set for 10 and 11:15 a.m. on Saturday morning and will feature a 10k course for the men and a 6k for the women. Auburn previously competed in the Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa on October 15 with the men placing second and women placing seventh, respectively.
"For the men this will be the first 10k of the season," head coach Mark Carroll said. "We have put in a lot of good work all year and hopefully that pays off this weekend. We had a very good 8k outing on the same course a month ago, so hopefully we can build on that.
"Everyone is in very good form right now. We just need a little luck and to keep everyone on track. If all of that falls into place, we should have a successful race."
18 teams from the nine regional meets will earn a berth to the NCAA Championships in Terra Haute, Ind. on November 21. Additionally, the 13 next-best teams will earn at large bids as well as the top four individuals not on a qualifying team from each region.
Results from Saturday's meet will be posted on AuburnTigers.com upon completion.
