Mies Splits Two Matches at ITA All-American

TULSA, Okla. - Auburn senior Andreas Mies won his first-round match but fell in the second round Thursday in the singles main draw at the ITA All-American Championships at the Case Tennis Center.

Mies, seeded ninth in the tournament and ranked No. 11 nationally in the preseason rankings, won his first-round match over 25th-ranked Yannick Hanfmann of Southern Cal, 5-7, 6-2, 3-0 (ret.), to advance to the round of 32.

He would then fight his way through another three-set affair, ultimately falling to Clemson's 32nd-ranked Yannick Maden, 6-4, 2-6, 4-6.

Mies and junior Daniel Cochrane were scheduled to face Baylor's team of Marko Krickovic and Robert Verzaal in the first round of the doubles main draw, but results were not available as of midnight CT.

UPDATE - 10/5, 11 a.m.: Cochrane and Mies advanced to the second round of the doubles main draw with an 8-5 win over Krickovic/Verzaal. The Auburn duo will face the nation's 12th-ranked team of Sarmiento and Quiroz of Southern Cal Friday at some point after 1 p.m. CT.
