TULSA, Okla. - Auburn's men's tennis doubles team of senior Andreas Mies and junior Daniel Cochrane kept rolling at the ITA All-American Championship on Saturday, winning a three-set thriller in the doubles semifinal to advance to the championship match.
The Auburn duo defeated the Virginia team of Alex Domijan and Harrison Richmond, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3, to give Auburn its first-ever entry into a championship final at the All-American Championships.
"I'm proud of Andy and Dan today," Auburn head coach Eric Shore said. "They have played better and better as the tournament has gone on. Their games complement each other well, and they continue to improve. This is the first time ever in the finals of the All-American for Auburn with a big test tomorrow. I am sure they are not satisfied at this point and want to step up tomorrow."
Mies and Cochrane, the nation's 24th-ranked team in the preseason ITA rankings, will face another team from Virginia in the championship. This time, it will be Jarmere Jenkins and Mac Styslinger, who were straight-sets winners over a team from North Florida in the other semifinal today.
