TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Auburn men's cross country finished 11th and five runners set new personal bests on Friday at the 2012 NCAA South Region meet hosted by Florida State University at Apalachee Regional Park.
"It was good for several of our guys to set new PRs today," Auburn cross country coach Mark Carroll said. "Erin had a good run and bested her previous career best by close to 20 seconds. Again today, injuries played a part and that is unfortunate."
Niklas Buhner was Auburn's top finisher in 23rd place with a new personal-best mark of 31:17.30. Sam Mueller (new PR, 32:05.60) and Francis Hernandez (32:06.60) both posted top 50 performances.
Also posting personal best times were Jason Miller (32:45.20) and Andrew Scott (35:21.90) in the team's first 10k of the season.
Auburn's lone female competitor, Erin Fondren, finished 99th in the women's 6k race and set a new personal-best mark of 22:02.
Florida State won the men's and women's regional titles.
The Tigers now break for a few weeks before resuming training for indoor track and field season.
