Tigers Finish Napa Valley Tournament with Four More Wins

NAPA, Calif. - Auburn's men's tennis team wrapped up the opening tournament of the fall season with a 4-0 Sunday to finish the weekend at the Silverado Resort & Spa College Tennis Invitational with 15 wins in 16 matches.

The Tigers swept four singles matches from opponents from Pacific on Sunday morning. Sophomore Lukas Ollert took down Denis Stolyarov, 6-1, 6-2, and senior Lucas Lopasso downed Sem Verbeek in straight sets, 6-3, 6-2.

Junior Dennis Lengsfeld fought his way through two tiebreakers to defeat Alex Hamilton, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (4). And senior Michael Wardell overcame a first-set loss to post a three-set win, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.

Fall tournament play continues this week at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla. Junior Daniel Cochrane will open play Monday afternoon in the qualifying singles draw where he will face Oklahoma's John Warden at 1 p.m. Later in the week, senior Andreas Mies will compete in the singles main draw against an opponent to be determined, and Cochrane and Mies will play in the main doubles draw as well. Those matches are set to begin Thursday.
