DOVER, Dela. -- The second-ranked Auburn equestrian team suffered its second loss of the season on Saturday, when it fell to No. 7 Oklahoma State, 11-9 in Dover, Dela.
The Tigers (7-2, 2-1 SEC) fell to an early 2-3 deficit after equitation on the flat, where the only Auburn winners were Jennifer Delman and Elizabeth Benson.
The meet then turned to the western disciplines. Horsemanship also fell 2-3 to the Cowboys with victories from Stephanie Rucci, her first of two wins, and Lacy Watson. As they have done all season, the reining lineup won 3-2 behind strong rides by Katsy Leeman, Cheyenne Cracraft and Rucci.
Auburn was down 8-7 to Oklahoma State heading into the final event of the day, the Tigers' strongest, equitation over fences. However, the squad was only able to pull out two head-to-head wins by Demi Stiegler and Christina Lin.
Auburn returns home to start SEC competition on Saturday, Feb. 15 as they play host to Texas A&M. Meet time is set for 1 p.m. CT.
