COLUMBIA, S.C. ­- The 30th-ranked Auburn men's tennis team fell on the road to No. 48 South Carolina, 4-1, Sunday at the Carolina Tennis Center.

The Tigers fell to 14-7 overall, 4-3 in the SEC, while South Carolina improved to 9-9, 2-4 in league play.

In doubles, Auburn's Dennis Lengsfeld and Lukas Ollert fell 8-4 to Andrew Adams and Kyle Koch, 8-4, on court two. The Gamecocks clinched the point with an 8-5 win on court three over Auburn's Dante Saleh and Joseph Van Dooren, as Thiago Pinheiro and Sam Swank were victorious.

Auburn's tandem of Daniel Cochrane and Oliver Plaskett were in a tight match against No. 56 Chip Cox and Tsvetan Mihov, trailing 5-4 when play was suspended. The pair was seeking their second straight over a ranked duo in doubles after earning a victory at Florida against the 11th-ranked tandem in the nation on Friday.

Ollert evened the match at 1-1 with a 6-2, 6-1 win on court two over South Carolina's No. 80 Mihov. South Carolina reclaimed the lead as Van Dooren fell on court five to Koch, 6-4, 6-0.

The Gamecocks won matches on courts three and four to knock off the Tigers. The Gamecocks made it 3-1 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Dante Saleh by Cox. Pinheiro's 6-3, 6-1 sealed the match in favor of South Carolina by defeating Lengsfeld at the No. 3 line.

Auburn returns home to face Kentucky for another SEC showdown on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Yarbrough Tennis Center. Admission is free to all home Auburn tennis matches.
