AUBURN, Ala. - The No. 34 Auburn men's tennis team fell to No. 13 Kentucky, 4-2, on Friday at the Yarbrough Tennis Center. With the loss, Auburn falls to 14-8 (4-4 SEC) on the year.

"I thought we came out with a good effort," Auburn head coach Eric Shore said. "We certainly had our chances, but today wasn't our day. If we can play like that every match I like our chances."

In doubles, Kentucky's No. 39 duo of Tom Jomby and Kevin Lai defeated Auburn's No. 49 tandem of Daniel Cochrane and Oliver Plaskett, 8-4. The Wildcats won the doubles point on court two as Alejandro Gomez and Beck Pennington outlasted Auburn's Dennis Lengsfeld and Lukas Ollert, 8-7 (8).

In singles, freshman Dante Saleh made quick work of Kentucky's Jerry Lopez on court four, 6-1, 6-0 to even the match at 1-1. Auburn took a 2-1 lead over the Wildcats as No. 64 Daniel Cochrane disposed of No. 85 Alejandro Gomez, 6-2, 6-1 on court two.

Kentucky evened the match as Grant Robert defeated Oliver Plaskett on court six, 6-4, 7-5. On court one, No. 11 Tom Jomby edged out No. 111 Lukas Ollert, 7-6 (5), 6-4. Kentucky clinched the match on court three as No. 90 Beck Pennington defeated Dennis Lengsfeld 6-4, 7-6.

The Tigers will return to action on Sunday to face the Vanderbilt Commodores at 1 pm at the Yarbrough Tennis Center. Admission is free to all Auburn home matches.
