AUBURN, Ala. - The Auburn men's tennis team travels to Georgia Tech this weekend to participate in the Georgia Tech Invitational.
The tournament will be the Tigers' second tournament of the fall; the team sent four players to the SEC Fall Classic last weekend in Gainesville, Fla.
Each of Auburn's participants made the Round of 16, and junior Marko Krickovic advanced to the quarterfinals before eventually falling to Maxx Lipman of Florida.
Auburn head coach Eric Shore was pleased with the way the team began its fall season and looks to carry the momentum into the weekend.
"I thought it was a good overall start," Shore said. "I was impressed with the new guys. It was a really good effort."
The Tigers plan on sending four players to the tournament this weekend, including three players who will be experiencing their first action of 2014: junior Joseph Van Dooren, sophomore Oliver Plaskett and sophomore Petar Tomic. Sophomore Dante Saleh is the only player who played last weekend in the SEC Fall Classic.
"I am looking to see where these new guys are," Shore said. "I am hoping that one of these guys will step up and have a good tournament for us."
The Tigers will begin competition on Friday and continue through Sunday. Match times will be announced later this week.
