Tallahassee, Fla. - The Auburn men's cross team placed third with 78 points while the women's team finished sixth with 129 points at the Florida State Invitational on Friday at the Apalachee Regional Park in Tallahassee, Fla. "We had some solid runs today, and we got what we wanted out of the meet," head coach Mark Carroll said. "We are looking forward to getting back to work and prepare for the Crimson Classic next week."
Senior Francis Hernandez led the Tigers with his second top-5 finish of the season, placing fifth at 25:34.35. Freshmen Kevin Wyss and Mitchell Gomez recorded top-15 finishes as Wyss placed 13th at 25:54.53, while Gomez finished 15th with a time of 26:08.95. Freshman Coleman Churitch recorded a top-20 finish as the Brentwood, Tenn., native finished 19th at 26:29.05. Freshman Wesley Curles finished 26th at 26:38.70 to round out Auburn's top-five scorers. Junior Sage Blackwell led the Tigers with a 14th place finish at 18:34.02, followed by freshman Kenzley Defler, placed 15th at 18:34.62. Junior Kristin Sheehan clocked an 18:51.16 to finish 24th. Junior Madeline Sharp recorded a 34th place finish at 19:14.99, while sophomore Claire Kennedy finished 42nd at 19:41.57.
