AUBURN, Ala. - The No. 3 Auburn equestrian team fell to No. 6 South Carolina, 10-9, on Friday at the Auburn University Horse Center. With the loss, the Tigers fall to 1-1 (0-1 SEC) on the season, while South Carolina moves to 1-2 (1-1 SEC).

"I am really still happy with the way the girls were riding," head coach Greg Williams. "The one thing we talked about was that we couldn't have mistakes. We still did better than we should have with the mistakes that we made. We were literally within a half a point of winning the whole meet on three different rides. I love what the coaches are doing, we just let it slip away. Talent wise, I love what the girls are doing. I think we are fine, we just made some mistakes."

In Equitation over Fences, junior Elizabeth Benson earned MOP honors for the second-consecutive meet after defeating Syndey Smith, 95-82. Sophomore Ashley Foster earned the Tigers' second point of the meet, knocking off Samantha Smith, 88-87.

The Tigers were able to even the match at five as sophomore Hannah Stephens, senior Lucy Igoe and junior Hannah Loseke claimed victories. Stephens defeated Abigail Pait, 72.5-71.5, while Igoe topped Courtney Allen, 72-70.5. Loseke earned the third point for Auburn after her 73.5-69 win over Kelsey Urban.

The Gamecocks rallied in the Equitation on the Flat, winning 4-1 as senior Demi Stiegler earned the Tigers' lone win in the event, defeating Lisa Perri, 82.75-76.25. In reining, Griffin Knight was named the MOP, defeating Sarah Bouchard, 70-69.5. Freshman Alexa Rivard earned a 68.5-63.5 victory over Bailey Walters, and senior Julianna Cook closed the meet with a 69.5-68.5 win over Haiden De Jane.

The Tigers return to action November 7 against Texas A&M at 3 p.m. CT at the Auburn University Horse Center.
